Why do I need to register?

PC Relief uses two-way certificate authentication that ensures "safer than the bank" Internet security.

Internet banking and other secure pages typically employ one-way certificate authentication which confirms to you that you are connecting to the banks servers (not to fakes), but then rely on your user name and password to confirm your identity after you have connected to their servers.

In contrast, PC Relief checks that your computer connects only to the PC Relief server (just like Internet banking does), then PC Relief goes the other way too. The PC Relief servers check they are connecting to your computer (not a fake) using the registration key. We call this two way secure certificate based authentication.

For this high level of security to be possible you need to go through the registration process, which will create a key unique to your computer. This key is used to authenticate your computer every time PC Relief runs.
